WHY BUY ME?
Lebenstein (1930 – 1999) was one of the most popular artists in Poland during the 20th century. Influenced by the work of Marc Rothco and Egon Schiele, he had a great deal of commercial success during the 1960s and his work is now highly collected.
Also an illustrator and stage designer, he lived in Paris and was very much part of Parisian art culture. He was decorated with the Grand Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (1998), winner of the award at the 1st Biennale of the Young in Paris (1959) and Alfred Jurzykowski New York Foundation award (1976) and Jan Cybis Award (1987).
The axial theme is typical of one oeuvre of his work.
