Why Buy Artist Rolan Vivian Pitchforth?
Artist Roland Vivian Pitchforth (1995 – 1982) was a prolific English painter. A veteran of the First World War, Pitchforth studied at the Royal College of Art (1920-25). A teacher and member of the London Group, along with artist John Piper, he exhibited in London between the wars. However, during WWII his scenes of bomb damage led to a salaried position with the WAAC (War Artists Advisory Council). Noted for watercolours of landscapes and seascapes, this signed and dated Landscape of the River Blackwater reflects his atmospheric style.
